Keegan wanting his mom. Thought that I would teach them how to say Mama, so that when they need something Im not the one being called!

{keegan: the ham}
This week has been big for Keegan. For the last 3 months he has been sleeping in the swing due to acid reflux and projectile spit up. We were terrified that he would spit up while asleep and choke. But he hardly ever spits up now. He has only had a handful of projectile spit up episodes in the last 3 months and on a day-to-day basis doesn't even spit up at all. So last Sunday Keegan was SO tired he fell asleep during his last feeding before bedtime. I thought, "what the heck" and decided to put him in his crib. Matthew and I had talked about this for a long time knowing that we would have to make the transition soon. But I was terrified because Keegan has a hard time falling asleep, but once asleep not much wakes him up. On Sunday I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to try since he was so tired. I knew if he didn't like it we could always put him back in the swing. Well it worked like a charm. I think he was just so drowsy that he didn't care where he was, as long as he was asleep. Last night we decided to try again, hoping that even though he was wide awake he would do okay. It worked again. Granted he did stay up talking for about 15 minutes, but at least he wasn't crying. He slept through the night both nights without waking up once. In fact in the last 2 nights he has done better than Carter and Carter has been sleeping in his crib since 6 weeks. Keegan still sleeps in the swing for naps, but we figure one step at a time and as long as he is sleeping through the night in his crib that is the most important part.

Carter having his temperature taken. He ran a fever between 100 degrees F and 101.7 degrees F for a couple of days. But Keegan never did.
When I see this picture my heart just breaks remembering how bad Keegan was. Although neither boy needed breathing treatments, they both were really sick. Keegan is now not afraid to have his nose suctioned due to the excess amount we had to while he was sick. Carter actually never needed his nose suctioned, but both boys had a horrible cough. We actually had both of them sleeping in the swings for a couple of nights. We also separated them. Keegan slept in our room because his coughing would wake up Carter. So grateful to have my room back!!!Friday, January 9, 2009

{the parable of the cowboy boots}

{this-n-that}
This was right after bath time. This picture makes Carter's legs look like little chunks.
I guess the bath helped Keegan relax enough to take a nap. Doesn't he look like a hillbilly with just a bib and diaper on?
For those who have been around my children, you might have noticed that Carter doesn't blink too often. To be honest it is kind of freaky when he just stares at you, and this is the face he usually makes.
