It's double the giggles...
...and double the grins...
...and double the trouble if you're blessed with twins.

{happy halloween}

Happy Halloween everyone. We decided to dress the boys up as Thing 1 and Thing 2 from Cat In the Hat. It worked quite well if I do say so. Isn't this just the cutest card? My wonderful sister-in-law, Stephanie, made it for us. If you are interested, she has a website, http://somethingsimpledesigns.blogspot.com/. Make sure to get your Christmas card order in early. I know I am.

{3mo old}

Carter 3mo old
Keegan 3mo old
Carter and Keegan 4wks old

Carter and Keegan 3mo old

As you can seen the overalls now fit...

Technically the boys won't have another appointment until their 4mo check up, but we decided to take the boys in to be weighed and measured just for curiosity sake.

Stats:

Carter

12lb 3oz

24 inches long

Keegan

10lb 12oz

22 3/4 inches long

Similarities:

both like to eat

both are boys

both share the same birthday

both smile and giggle quite a bit

both hate tummy time

both are usually hungry, sleepy, and even poopy at the same time

both love bath time

both sleep through the night

Differences:

Carter

is a HUGE mama's boy (we didn't mean for it to happen)

is rather shy, quiet, and sensitive

takes a lot to make him cry, but when he does it is a genuine cry w/tears and all

is easily satisfied

doesn't like to be alone or feel alone

scares easily

doesn't like to be dirty

likes to have his head rubbed

Keegan

very outgoing and loud

tends to gravitate towards dad

is all or nothing, doesn't matter if he has been fed a little bit, he will still act like he is starving

likes to smile and laugh a lot

will cry at the drop of a hat, actually it is more like screaming

very curious about his surroundings

likes to have his back rubbed/patted

sticks his tongue out all the time, like he's tasting the air

{12 hours}

This is how I found Keegan this morning when I woke him up. Keegan had kind of a rough evening yesterday. As some already know, he has acid reflux problems. Luckily between rice based formula and adding rice cereal to breast milk his reflux and projectile spit-up has become almost obsolete. He hardly ever spits-up any more. But every once in a while he has an episode, like last night. I won't go into details, but needless to say it was so rough on his body that he went to bed around 11pm and he was still asleep this morning at 11am. The boys usually are put down for bed between 10-11pm and then wake up on their own between 8-9am, by themselves. This morning Keegan was still asleep by 11am and I chose to wake him up so he could eat. I am not sure how much longer he would've slept if I would've let him. Because of his spit-up we let him sleep in the swing since it would elevate him so if he did spit-up during the night he wouldn't choke on it. So far this morning, he is doing much better and acting like last night never happened.

{got milk}

Yesterday, after feeding Carter, Matthew of course had to try and get him to burp. Below is the result. As you can see Carter burped alright, and then he decided to save some for later...

{marijuana, tacos, and lakewood colorado}

I ask, what do these 3 things have in common? First, I like to keep up on current events, reading about hot topics online is the easiest while dealing with 2 beautiful boys. Plus I have a hard time watching the local news because the news anchors are SO depressing. Anyway, today I was reading on The Associated Press website and came across this little news reels... http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/O/ODD_MARIJUANA_TACOS?SITE=CTNHR&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT
I guess now days a person can ask for more than cheese, lettuce, sour cream, tomatoes, and guacamole on their tacos...

*happy birthday ranae*

Just wanted to add a quick little Happy Birthday to my mother-in-law, Ranae. I thought I would go ahead and do it since Matthew has been so busy with work lately. So Ranae, I hope you have fun at the Hilton with your friends. Try not to get too spoiled.

{smiles}

Well the boys have learned to grin from ear to ear. Keegan has actually been doing this for a for the last month or so, but Carter's cheeks are so much heavier that it took him a little longer. Now they smile for anything, while they are being changed, while they are eating, or if you just look at them.
They are starting to look more like brothers...
Sunday afternoon, he actually was really happy because he fell asleep at church and didn't wake up for 6 hours. We tried to wake him up, but he just wanted to take a long nap. So then he woke up smiling, not something that usually happens. If you know how Matthew is when he is waking up, then you already know how Keegan is. Keegan has more than just Matthew's good looks, he has some of his personality too.
I know this picture is a little fuzzy, but it is such a cute smile I couldn't resist posting it.
Matthew thought it would be funny to stick Keegan in between the couch pillows. Apparently so did Keegan...
I took this picture today. I have decided that Carter loves the camera.
Look at those beautiful blue eyes...

Okay so this isn't a smile picture, but I had to show just how thick and long Carter's eyelashes are. I absolutely love them. Keegan has really long eyelashes too, but they aren't anywhere near as thick.

Happy Birthday Stephanie and Brett

This last week my sister Steph and her husband Brett both celebrated their birthdays. Brett's was on the 16th and Stephanie's is today. Personally I thought that they should have gotten married on the 17th of October...would have been easier to remember. Anyway, Happy Birthday to the two of you...I actually got cards this year, however Keegan licked all the stamps and stuck them to Carters forehead. I need to buy more.
Here we have Stephanie, Brett and Katie at Eric and Joy's wedding reception. If I remember right dad was teaching them how he won over my mother...
Stephanie, Eric and I at the Salt Lake Winter Olympics...
Growing up in Idaho we wore only the coolest suits...Just kidding, however lay off the suits!

Where - is - my - super - suit?

You tell me where my suit is, woman! We are talking about the greater good!

{jelly beans up your nose}

So I was rummaging through some of my old binders tonight and found my old quote book I made a long time ago. I had forgotten about my favorite poem and I thought I would share it, hope y'all enjoy...

Jelly beans Up Your Nose
by: Jeff Moss
Johnny stuck jelly beans up his nose,
That's a pretty dumb thing to do.
But the other kids said, "Hey John's real cool.
Let's put beans up our noses, too!"
Well, a kid can't breathe with beans up his nose
'Cause they get all stuck inside.
So John and the kids, well, I really hate to say it,
But they coughed, they choked, and they died.
That's a pretty grim tale, I must admit,
And it may not all be true,
Still when somebody cool does something dumb
You don't have to do it, too.
So don't be one of those
With jelly beans up your nose.

{thanks kellie}

SO my awesome sister made Carter and Keegan quilts. She has always been very creative, which I have ALWAYS been jealous of. She completely designed these quilts. They are one of a kind. She even machine quilted them. She is going to have the pattern copy written or patented or something like that. I LOVE them so much and I know when the boys are old enough to love them, they will too.
She has set the standard high. Now all of my parents future grand kids will want Kellie's one of a kind quilts. I know I will want her to make all of my kids quilts, I will even pay her if it comes down to it. SO thanks so much Kellie, you are the best sister.

I'M PREGNANT AGAIN...

... in my dreams that is. For the last couple of months I have been having reoccurring dreams that I am pregnant again with a girl, AND that all three kids end up being less than a year apart. I think my sub conscience is pushing through while I sleep. I do want a little girl, but I am terrified that I will get pregnant before these boys are out of diapers. I want to be able to enjoy all the time I have with Carter and Keegan. My sister-in-law, Stephanie has 2 beautiful little boys who are 13 months apart. When she came to visit this last summer I was talking to her on how I thought I would have it easy compared to her. Carter and Keegan eat, sleep, and have diaper changes at the same time. I don't have to chase after a toddler while trying to put the baby down for a nap. She told me that she feels like she did miss a lot of Noah's milestones while she was pregnant with Cooper. I think that would be hard, plus I think that she is such a strong mom for going through that. I don't know how I would ever deal with that, let alone having to go through it with 2 boys and being pregnant.
Anyway I just wanted to give y'all a scare, haha.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

As some of you know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. And my grandma is a breast cancer survivor. She is celebrating her 8th year in remission. As a tribute to her strength I am selling a bracelet on my Busy Beadz website http://busy-beadz.blogspot.com/ and the proceeds will be going towards breast cancer research. Please check it out, and pass along the word.

{tagged... again}

So I am not sure if I am the Katie that was actually tagged on Heather's blog, but I am gonna give this a go anyway...

1. I have almost perfect teeth. I never needed braces and the one time I had a cavity filled it was in a baby tooth, which has been gone for a while now. So no cavities and naturally straight teeth. OH and I still have all of my wisdom teeth, 2 have come in (straight) and I don't need them pulled out.

This picture was taken on our honeymoon in Florida

2. I have been on a cattle drive. It was a blast. I went with my friend Michelle during the first year I was in college. We had fun riding horses all day long, although I don't think I could walk properly for a couple of days afterwards.

Me pointing at cows. For some reason I think cows are really cute.

My friend Michelle and I on our cell phones out in the wilderness.

Me at my friend's ranch after rounding up the cows.

3. I am the most accident prone person I know. As of yet I have a running total of 21 scars. Granted 7 of them are from a knee surgery I had my sophomore year in high school. But I had to have surgery because I tore my ACL from stepping in a dip in the ground during a soccer game. How lame is that...

After surgery, St. Lukes in Boise has this program that allows trained dogs to come and visit patients. I don't remember this dog coming, I was quite out of it.

A couple of months after surgery I went to Sun Valley with my family. Not sure if it was the smartest thing to do to ice skate w/a recovering knee.

These are the pictures Dr. Shea took of the inside of my knee while he was repairing my ACL. Cool huh... 4. Having twins isn't as hard as every one thinks it is. Well maybe I just lucked out and have 2 very mild boys, but they were born with the same routine, they eat, sleep and even have diaper changes at the same time. They never had colic and are hardly ever extremely fussy. Everyone thinks I make it look easy, well it is easy for me. Not sure if it would be the same for everyone else. Still I don't know any better either. I only know how to take care of 2 at the same time, not one at a time.

My beautiful boys

5. I have not gone one day without having my toe nails painted since I was 9. I know it sounds neurotic, but I think my feet look funny when I don't have my toe nails painted. I do think it looks weird when women wear open toed shoes without their toe nails painted.

On a side note, that toe ring has been on my foot since I bought it, at this place called Toe Jam ( http://www.toejam.net/) back in 2002 while vacationing in Hawaii. Except I did take it off after my 2nd trimester since my feet began to swell. I didn't exactly want to show up at the ER asking to have it cut off since it goes all the way around my toe.

6. I really like to fish. My Grandpa Proctor taught me how. Granted I won't gut the fish, and sometimes I won't eat the fish especially if it smells like mud. But I think fishing is so relaxing, and I am good at it, lol. I haven't been fishing for a while, but I am definitely going to teach the boys how to fish. Well my mom probably will because she can teach them how to gut the fish as well. Plus she makes a mean dirt pie full of gummy worms. On a side note, one time my mom, grandpa and I went fishing (my first time) and my mom made the oreo dirt pie. When my grandpa asked my mom for a worm she pulled a authentic looking gummy worm, put it in her mouth to "lick" the dirt off and then handed the worm to my grandpa. He was thoroughly grossed out until he realized it was candy. Oh and on that trip I caught my first boat. My reel got caught on the boat's motor, haha.
