It's double the giggles...
...and double the grins...
...and double the trouble if you're blessed with twins.

{carter-isms #2}

oh how i.love.this.boy...he is silly and curious...and extremely intense...at times
he wants so badly to be a big boy...
...which has resulted in this...

we've been talking about selling our current table and buying one that is normal height...
instead of counter height.  we knew that it was only a matter of time before one...
...or both boys decided to climb our table.
...and we tend to have a lot of company, so we want one that seats at least 8 people...
preferably 10...
...well all of our talking went out the window...and now its a decision we have made...
carter can now climb into his booster seat...and on this day...
...his loving brother keegan decided to buckle him into his booster after carter climbed in...
which...carter didn't.like.at.all...big boy-itis.period...

...carter is bossy...he points his finger and yells at me.dad.brother...whenever hes frustrated...
we have no idea what hes saying...so in a way its humorous...
...but this little personality quirk has landed him in timeout on a number of occasions.

carter...only wants to eat his banana like mom and dad do...
if we peel it, or chop it up...he becomes very distraught...which kinda makes me smile...
he is a very particular kid...
he knows exactly what he wants...when he wants it...
...but he sure.does.love.his.brother...

...a couple of weeks ago, carter scared the crap out of me...
all summer long i have been saying i needed to get a hide-a-key, because...
...up to that point carter had locked me...us out of our house...twice.

...but a couple of weeks ago, i had gone to the commissary and returned home.
matthew went back to work to oversee a training exercise that was going on between 6-7pm.
...i began putting the groceries away and had stepped into the garage for no more than 3 minutes...
to unload a bag...i tried to go back into the house, only to learn that carter.had.locked.me.out...
i began to panic because i still hadn't bought a hide-a-key, and matthew was at work and not easily reachable.

so i ran next door, to our newly wed...newly air forced neighbors and for the 3rd time this summer asked to use their phone, because my kids had locked me out of the house.  i tried to get a hold of matthew...

but i didn't know his desk number, i didn't know the ops floor number...i didn't know any number, because...
they are just programmed in my phone, which i didn't have.

and these 2 newly wed...newly air forced kids only knew the main desk number...
...so i called it...and who answered?  the 2sops squadron vice-commander...
a lt.col...and i was on the verge of tears, because by this time i had been locked out 20min...
...and couldn't remember if everything was 100% baby-proofed or not.

...so this lt. col very calmly, with im sure a smile on his face, told me a phone number to call...
in the end...i never did get a hold of matthew, he was unavailable during the exercise...and i sat on the front porch with my chillin looking out the window at me crying...carter probably crying because he wanted me...
...and keegan probably crying because he wanted to be outside too...

in the end...matthew came home right at the same time another squadron commander was walking by with his wife and dog...who found out what had happened...

...the next day, i bought a hide-a-key...

I hate that moment you realize the door is locked and your kids are on the other side. Good idea to get a hide-a-key. We are fortunate that our landlord lives down the street, but one time he might not be home. We've been thinking about getting rid of our table too. Most people I've talked to who own the counter height end up getting rid of it. Cute boys!
