We've been having a hard time with Keegan. He spits up frequently and in mass quantities. Thankfully he is still getting enough nutrients to gain weight, he has almost gained 2 lbs since birth. But we don't like him to go through it because it is so forceful and it looks like it hurts. His doctor has us giving him a very low dose of Zantac to help with the acid in his stomach, but it doesn't help the actual spitting up. We thought that maybe he was lactose intolerant so we tried switching him to soy formula for 48 hours. For those who have never smelled soy formula, you are not missing anything at all. It stinks before it is ingested, and it is an even worse smell after it is spit up. Keegan didn't like the soy, it made him extremely gassy. We have since switched him to a formula that has rice cereal in it and so far it seems to work. Hopefully Keegan will grow out of this projectile spit up soon.

Soy formula is the nastiest stuff ever made. I babysat my friend's baby the other day and his whole body smells like soy formula.
Okay, so we had the same problem with Kaida, and Prevacid was the answer. It was like a completely different baby once she started on it. My friend told me one of her twins had tried Zantac but that the Prevacid worked better, so that's what I asked for. I also started mixing rice cereal in with her milk (I really hate formula so I toughed it out w/the pump, sorry, too much information) and that helped too, but sometimes it clogged the bottle. Oh, and if you haven't tried Dr. Brown's bottles, you might want to. They seemed to help with her spitting up. I also propped her up a little bit when she slept. For the first couple of months especially, she slept in the swing because she was uncomfortable laying flat. I hope you've enjoyed my unsolicited advice. Good luck!
I totally hear you on the stinky soy formula. Thankfully, Makua doesn't spit up anymore.
Oh, such fun. It seems like every baby has something weird. Cooper had some serious gas issues and we tried all sorts of different formulas, even soy. I agree, it is gross, but it is great for some babies. Fortunately, it is just because they are little and they will grow out of it. I hope he does soon.
