Solvang

We spent one of the nights in a town called Solvang. It is a Scandinavian town not far from the Air Force base. The whole town looks like it was taken out of Norway or Sweden and set in the middle of California. It was fun to take my family to see this town since we have Norwegian heritage.

As you can see, we probably spent way too much time in the sun. Kellie and Matt think they are ninjas mastering the art of ping pong. They sucked, by the way. We all did.

Unfortunately my husband, Matthew was unable to spend a whole lot of time with us in Solvang since he had started Space 100 training on the base. He was able to meet us after he got off work, but he opted to not spend the night in the condo with us since he had to get up early the next morning.

Did I mention that Solvang and a town next to it called Buelton is the birth place of pea soup?

The night in the condo, we were all very tired. But we stayed up and watched Master of Disguise... "Am I not turtly enough for the turtle club?" I can't believe that we were all able to be on the bed and not fall off. I think we were just so tired after a long day that we didn't care one bit.

Katie,
Solvang is where Lori and I spent part of our honeymoon in 1981...and for our 1 year anniversary. I had never had split pea soup until then and now i love the stuff... it is one of the best meals I make.. Pres. Reagan's ranch is not too far from there too.
